Two ways to talk about the future, and how to count "first, second, third."
a. The future
Dutch builds the future with either the auxiliary zullen or the verb gaan. Zullen is irregular:

Use zullen in more formal situations: a promise, a proposal, a solemn plan.
Use gaan in more informal situations: an intended action, or an event happening at a set date or time.

The pattern: -de for most numbers, but -ste for numbers ending in 8, and for anything from twenty up.
